Massage Therapy has been practiced for thousands of years,
and has been developed from our natural tendency to rub ourselves better when we hurt.
Our modern understanding of the anatomy and physiology has
helped to develop massage techniques that can be used with precision to
alleviate muscular and skeletal problems. Although remedial massage soothes
away aches and pains its main use is to mobilize locked joints and re-balance
the body framework for better posture and pain relief.
Remedial Massage
Therapists train for two and a half years in anatomy and physiology as
well as massage and mobilization technique, giving them the expertise
to assess and treat structural and functional problems. Conditions that
may benefit from Advanced Remedial Massage include:
| arthritis |
sciatica |
rheumatism |
| back pain |
headaches |
"slipped disc" |
| frozen shoulder |
muscular pains |
repetitive strain injury |
flexibility and mobilization problems. |
